Fun with Felting
As my favorite developmental psychologist will tell you: a good way to fight off the effects of aging on the brain is to try learning new things. Now, before you go disassembling the family car or joining the rodeo, let me suggest something a little simpler. Felting! Hey, I never said it couldn’t be something fun, relaxing, and community-building.
Michele and Heidi will make it easy for you to get started. They’ll set up supplies in a non-threatening environment, gently guide you in felting basics, and even grease the social wheels with coffee and snacks as you and 14 other adults chat, laugh, and maybe poke each other with needles. You’ll go home with a felted hat, stocking, or small bag of your own creation… and a younger mind. Doctor’s orders.
Afternoon of Saturday, November 5 at Tandem.

Create Your Own Terrarium
This hands-on workshop experience is a great way to spend time with friends or loved ones.
Four participants will learn the basic foundation of building an open terrarium using beautiful plants, materials, and vessels. Guests will begin by choosing from a variety of curated and unique vessels for their terrariums. Then they will choose their plants from a large selection of quality potted succulents & cacti. Then we will DIG IN! We’ll add rocks to the bottom of the vessel for drainage, a layer of landscape fabric to keep the dirt in place, a special soil mixture, plants, and decorative items. These items differ for each workshop but typically include several different types of stones, crystals, shells, mosses, glass marbles, drift wood, and more.
The workshop includes: 1 unique container, all materials & tools, a wide variety of decorative items, up to 3 succulents / cacti with the option of purchasing “add-ons” for an additional fee, hands-on design instruction & coaching and care instructions.

Murder Mystery Dinner
In a cabin in the woods, in the gathering dusk, twelve guests assemble for dinner. One is guilty of murder. As motives are revealed and rivalries are exposed, suspicions will be aroused and the accusations will fly. Can you prove your innocence and find the real killer?
Guests will receive a cast list and an assigned role. One guest will be designated as the murderer, so while theories will abound and everyone is a suspect, there is a solution. There is no script as such: everything depends on improvisation, cunning and astute observation. There will be a flexible timetable for informal chat, dinner conversation, discussion, then accusations by roll call and, finally, revelation. There will also be a tray of news snippets providing historical context in case anyone is stuck for a line!
Costumes are a great help, but even a single distinguishing prop can help identify a character. Guests will have name tags (and a cheat sheet) so plot details do not need to be memorized beforehand. However, a little preparation (on accents, alibis, assertions, hints and red herrings) can go a long way...
This evening includes a catered dinner, appetizers, dessert and drinks! October 8, 2016 at Noel and Sandy's 200 year old cabin in Free Union.
